Don Henley – “Cass County”
Don Henley released his fifth studio album, Cass County on September 25, 2015. The first album since his 2000 record, Inside Job, Cass County features 16 tracks and was recorded in Nashville, TN.
Receiving generally positive reviews from critics, Cass County debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and at number one on the Top Country Albums chart.
Don Henley was born on July 22, 1947 in Gilmer, TX. After being asked by his coach to quit his high school football team because of his small stature, Don Henley decided to join his school band, where he played trombone and then drums. Around the same time, Don Henley also joined a Dixieland band with some of his childhood friends called Shiloh. The band’s members, by chance, met Kenny Rogers in 1969, who helped the band sign a record deal with Amos Records. After releasing a self-titled album, the band disbanded in 1971.
Don Henley got his big break when he was recruited as a member of Linda Ronstadt’s backup band. A couple months later, he and Glenn Frey, along with Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, formed the Eagles. During his time with the band, Don Henley has acted both as drummer and a co-writer on many of their best-known hits, typically working with Frey. Some of these songs include “Hotel California,” “Desperado,” and “The Long Run.”
When the band broke up in 1980, Henley began a solo career which has been very successful. Don Henley has released a number of hit singles, including “Dirty Laundry,” “Love Rules,” and “The Boys of Summer.” When the Eagles reformed in 1994, Henley signed back on and has helped write for the band’s subsequent releases, including several songs on Long Road Out of Eden (2007). He’s also continued to tour with the band.
