AC/DC – “Rock or Bust” Album

In 2014, AC/DC released their seventeenth studio album, Rock or Bust. The 11-track album was recorded at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver and was AC/DC’s first album not to feature founding band member and rhythm guitarist Malcom Young, who had been diagnosed with dementia shortly before recording for the album began.

Two of the album’s singles were released ahead of the album, “Play Ball” and “Rock the Blues Away.” “Play Ball” reached #5 on the US Mainstream Rock chart, while “Rock the Blues Away” reached #5. When Rock or Bust was released on November 28, 2014, it was met with generally favorable reviews and debuted at the #3 spot on the Billboard 200. In January 2015, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA.

AC/DC – “Rock or Bust” Tour

Shortly after Rock or Bust was released, AC/DC announced the “Rock or Bust” tour in the album’s support. The round of North American shows took place in the late summer and early fall at large stadiums, including Wrigley Field in Chicago and Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

In December 2015, AC/DC announced a second North American leg to their “Rock or Bust” tour. Beginning February 2, 2016 at Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, the tour will make 20 stops across the United States, including shows at Toyota Center in Houston, and Pepsi Center in Denver, before wrapping up on April 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York. AC/DC Biography

AC/DC started out with two boys who had emigrated with their family from Scotland to Australia. In 1973, brothers Angus and Malcolm Young formed a heavy metal band in Sydney, Australia. Picking up lead vocalist Dave Evans, bassist Rob Bailey, and drummer Peter Clark, they started playing local gigs. But the group did not get along, so Clark, Bailey, and Dave Evans were fired. Recruiting Mark Evans, a bass guitarist, and their chauffeur Ronald Bon Scott as the lead singer, AC/DC released their debut album, High Voltage, in 1975.

After completing T.N.T., AC/DC recorded Let There Be Rock in 1977. Yet they were still fighting, so they fired Mark Evans. At that point, a bass guitar player named Clifford Williams joined AC/DC. Their sixth studio album, Highway to Hell, sold over a million copies, and AC/DC ranked among superstars like Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin. But in 1980, Bon Scott died of alcohol poisoning at age 33 and fans all over the world mourned the loss. Although AC/DC almost disbanded, they decided to keep playing new AC/DC songs. So they hired lead singer Brian Johnson and recorded the album Back in Black.

AC/DC’s 1981 album, For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) sold over four million copies and was the last AC/DC album produced by Mutt Lange. After a few years of struggle, the band made a 1990 comeback with The Razors Edge and invited their former drummer, Phil Rudd, to join them. In the past several years, AC/DC has released Black Ice and Rock or Bust. To this day, AC/DC tickets remain as popular as ever!
