About The Killers

The Killers was formed in 2001 when Brandon Flowers approached guitarist Dave Keuning, bass guitarist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. The band started off playing at clubs in Las Vegas before being discovered by a British Warner Bros. representative. After showing a demo to a colleague at Lizard King Records, the band was signed to the label. The Killers found instant success with their debut album, Hot Fuss, released in 2004. With a peak charting of number one in the UK and number seven in the U.S., it propelled the new band into stardom.

Proving that their initial success was not just a fluke, The Killers topped themselves with their second album, 2006’s Sam’s Town. The second album maintained their number one streak in the UK and improved their U.S. standing to number two. The two albums have sold nearly ten million units worldwide. The Killers also released a compilation album, Sawdust, in 2007, which has sold nearly one million copies worldwide. Three of the band’s singles have also proven very successful. “Somebody Told Me,” from Hot Fuss, has reached platinum status. “Mr. Brightside” and “All These Things That I’ve Done,” from the same album, have both been certified as gold. The Killers released their third album, Day & Age, on November 24, 2008.

In addition to their studio and compilation albums, The Killers have also written songs that have appeared on three soundtracks. “Smile Like You Mean It” was on the Music from the OC: Mix 2 soundtrack, “Move Away” was on the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack, and “Shadowplay” was on the Control soundtrack. Despite their short time in the professional music industry, many well known artists and groups have worked with The Killers in concert, such as Robbie Williams, U2, and Coldplay. Fellow punk-rocker Toni Halliday was a featured guest on the band’s first Christmas single “A Great Big Sled.” Elton John and Neil Tennant were featured on the band’s second Christmas single, “Joseph, Better You Than Me.”
